Preface Dear readers,

Preface Dear readers, „To the good of people & nature“ - this has been our sustainability philosophy for more than 20 years. Doing business and acting sustainably is a permanent process for us. We wanted to find out exactly what this process looks like from our sustainability manager Wolfgang Schötz. How important is “sustainability“ at Krombacher and what milestones have you been particularly proud of during the past few years? Wolfgang Schötz: “Krombacher has been actively and seriously involved in sustainability projects for decades. As a family-owned company, we have accepted the responsibility to maintain this path in order to achieve ambitious sustainability goals. Our goal is to manage Krombacher successfully and sustainably in the long term for the benefit of future generations. We are holistically and sustainably committed to environmental and nature conservation issues on an international, national and regional level. In doing so, we are guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations. Particularly noteworthy in 2022 is the Krombacher Drinking Water Project, which we are implementing with the Welthungerhilfe in Malawi and Kenya“. Our goal is to manage Krombacher successfully and sustainably in the long term for the benefit of future generations. What are the most important sustainable goals for the coming years? Wolfgang Schötz: “The primary objective is to achieve complete decarbonisation at the Krombach site in the long term. In addition, we aim to reduce CO 2 emissions along the entire supply chain. There are already numerous energysaving measures and projects for 4 the switch from fossil to renewable energies. Another important goal is to consistently promote sustainable thinking and action among our employees. We are already doing this very well with, for example, our sustainability academy for trainees.“ What are the biggest challenges of the future? ? Wolfgang Schötz: “The aforementioned complete decarbonisation of our entire operation represents an extremely significant challenge. We have already made good progress in this regard. For example, our future energy supply is based on three renewable pillars: Biogas, photovoltaics and wind power.“
