PRODUCTION WHAT IS YOUR REUSABLE BOTTLE STRATEGY? Reusable bottles are refilled up to 25 times and are an environmentally friendly way of packaging beverages. In order to strengthen and further expand the reusable bottle pool, we have founded a reusable bottle pool together with other breweries: the GeMeMa (Gesellschaft für Mehrweg Management). HOW SUSTANABLE IS YOUR PACKAGING? With 98 % we achieve a very high recycling rate. In order to optimise the remaining 2 %, we are continuously looking for improvement potential. In particular this applies to our packaging. With our „Packaging 4.0“ project we are examining all the materials used and switch to more sustainable variants where possible. At the same time it is also a matter of disposing of our recyclable materials correctly and maintaining the recycling loop. 16 16
HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT GET TO THE CUSTOMER? To an increasing degree, our products are being brought to our customers by rail. This relieves traffic and the environment by reducing emissions. In 2021, a pilot project was launched together with DB Cargo on the Krombach - Berlin route, which will be further expanded in 2022. On the return journey, the containers take the empties from the region back to the brewery by rail. DO YOU USE E-DRIVE? We are gradually switching to e-mobility. Our goal is to equip our field service fleet with e-cars. Most of our company premises are already equipped with electric forklifts and cars. At the same time we are also testing hydrogen propulsion. For this purpose, a lorry is already running on fuel cells: DID YOU KNOW? The electric forklifts load around 8,000 Krombacher crates onto the trucks of our customers – per hour! 17 17
