PRODUCTION DISCOVERING AND EXPLOITING POTENTIAL We are committed to the responsible use of resources, continuous optimisation of resource consumption and the reduction of CO 2 emissions along the value chain. DO YOU SUPPORT THE UNITED NATIONS 1.5 DEGREE TARGET? We have defined our carbon targets in such a way that we reduce our emissions in line with the 1.5 degree target. For us, 1.5 degrees is not so much a target as an absolute limit that must not be exceeded. Climate change threatens the lives and livelihoods of people and animals around the world. We are therefore clearly committed to ambitious climate protection measures. The complete decarbonisation of the company is our declared long-term goal, in order to make our contribution. ARE YOU CLIMATE NEUTRAL? As a partner of the ZNU goes Zero initiative of the Centre for Sustainable Corporate Management, we are certified climate neutral. This requires responsible climate protection in several steps, which we fully comply with. In 2021, our CO 2 emissions were at 41,726 t CO 2 , slightly above the previous year. In the long term, we have set ourselves the goal of completely decarbonising the brewery through energy projects. We compensate for our current unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions, for example, with our climate protection project in Borneo. 14 14
Energy consumption is the main driver of CO 2 emissions. Day by day our energy team is working on projects for minimization of consumption. For example, new lighting and ventilation techniques are having a positive effect and are currently being implemented. We are also updating our facilities to the latest technical standards and maintain our heat through better insulation measures. To avoid energy losses, heat exchange in wastewater is a topic for the team and we are working on it intensively. WHAT DO YOU DO TO SAVE ENERGY?
